IRIS Alert Instructions
- Select "create a new IRIS
Alert profile".
- Click on "register"
- Enter a USER ID, e-mail address and password
- Click on "Create my alert profile"
- Click on "Set up your alert profile"
- a screen "Basic Information" will appear. Fill in the fields
and select how often you
would like to receive results and the manner in which you would
like to receive them.
- Click on "update my information"
- Select "select/update your keywords" from the top of screen
- select a category by clicking on it (only one at a time)
- select as many of the next menu items as you wish
- when finished, select "update profile"
- this will return you to the category menu again
- at this time you may select another category and perform the
above steps again.
- when you have finished selecting keywords, your profile is complete
and you may exit
IRIS and your new profile will take effect immediately.
***If you would like to perform your own search-select "conduct search"
from the menu at the top of the page.
IRIS Expertise Database Instructions
- If you have an ALERT Profile, you may select (2) EDIT your IRIS
Expertise Record
- Enter your USER ID and Password (used for IRIS Alert)
- Fill in fields
- You may restrict access to your profile
- to all www users
- only IRIS subscribing institutions
- only Illinois State University
- Select "Upload my Record"
- Your record will appear on a web page at the URO, and each Monday
these records will be uploaded into the IRIS
expertise database (this is done to ensure that the service
is only being used by faculty members
